PRISM AWARDS – 2011
For the first time in its fourteen year history the PRISM Awards, which recognizes excellence in public relations and communication management, took place in Cape Town.
The event, held under the auspices of the Consultancy Chapter of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa (PRISA), this year attracted a record number of 166 entries from companies, consultancies and individual public relations professionals.
Another first is the partnering with the PRISM Awards by the host city. The City of Cape Town welcomed the opportunity to host top industry players and guests who attended the prestigious event and encouraged nominees to “make a weekend of it.”
AV Direct jumped on board as a sponsor at the event and took initiative to supply, stage and operate the 2011 Prism Awards Event, at the Vineyard Hotel & Spa.
AV Direct custom built sets for the occasion, which included strip DMX controlled LED Lighting, recessed screens and digitally printed banners.
Images where projected onto the screens, using Sanyo XP 100 projectors. These projectors where mounted onto trussing along with Source 4 Profile spots to brighten up the stage for presenters.
Martin Mac250 Entours were used to provide a stunning colour wash effect across the venue.
This gear was all controlled through Showmagic, by our experienced technical crew at AV Direct.
AV Direct provided a curved stage, perspex lectern and Shure microphones for the presenters and MC.
A JBL VRX System was used for PA during the show.
The strong drive for entries resulted in double the number of submissions over the previous years . This is largely the result of innovative event and communication projects built around the World Cup.
Another reason is that during the financially tough times, smart companies spend more on strategic communication and well-conceptualized campaigns to drive business objectives and keep audiences engaged.
Beyond handing out awards and accolades, the PRISM submissions in 34 categories therefore serve as an outstanding resource for practitioners who have access to the best public relations work produced in 2010.
The submissions are showcased on the PRISM Awards
