THE LUXLIFE RED CARPET FASHION SHOW 2011

FASHION SHOW LOGONo 15 on Orange, was the venue for this magnificent event celebrating local fashion, innovation and showcasing three of South Africa’s leading designers.

Stefania Morland, Philosophy and Jagadi Haute Couture exclusively presented some of their Winter Collections on 20th May 2011.

Luxlife, Esiweni Lodge, Shiseido, Pongracz and the African Pride Hotel gave tremendous support for the event that was filled with excitement, glamour and divine prizes, with R30 of each ticket purchased going to the Animal Rescue Organization.

“The hotel was buzzing with an abundance of camera crew, out to capture South Africa’s top celebrities and media staff attending this glamorous event.”

AV Direct set up a 14m long runway dressed in soft white fabric, with AV consisting of two 42″ LCD displays presenting a live feed from the catwalk video camera, digitally switching to promotion videos.

Setup 3.5m Truss T-Bars clutching Par64 lights were constructed along with floor spots to provide adequate lighting on the runway for cameras and video recording.

LED Strip Lighting was used fill the backdrop with colour, adding a warm glow to the stage.These lights were connected using Wireless DMX technology and were controlled at front of house with Showmagic lighting software.

Front of House AV was controlled using Kramer video switchers and CAT5 transmitters and receivers to the screens.

DJ booths were supplied with custom LED lighting and installed in both the arena and after-party areas.

RehearsalFull technical rehearsal took place once the runway was setup. AV, Lighting and Audio was in place, and the set was looking great!

The models made their way out onto the runway and continued through the rehearsal with natural style and grace.The choreography for the event was put together by Jade Allen.

After the rehearsals were done it was time to fit the shoes, dress the clothes, style the hair, add accessories and beautify with make-up. (Almost in that order.)

SHOWTIME!!

The show kicked off with DJ Lady M spinning some frenetic beats on the decks. Lady M 1

Guests were welcomed by models and had their pictures taken in front of the branded banner wall. Complimentary drinks were served, including Nederburg, Bisquit and Pongracz, complimented with canapés, served in the lounge area.

An absorbing effect was created with models posing in the elevators, catching the eyes of the guests, when photographers inside the lifts used their camera flashes to attract attention.

AV Direct Film Crew was stationed at the entrance of the building, filming the guests as they entered the magnificent African Pride Hotel.

Carol ThornsNext up, the guests were treated to music from the lovely Carol Thorns, South Africa’s leading Cellist, who performed songs from her recent album “Fireflies in the Rain.” Carol has been playing locally and internationally for over a decade now and received a nomination for Best Instrumental Album at the 2010 SAMA Awards.Carol Thorns

After a stunning performance from Carol Thorns, master of ceremony, Aidan Bennetts introduced the event and designers to the anticipating crowd, consisting of local fashionistas and media personnel.

Models 1Stefania Morland opened the show, channeling an intuitive expression that acts as an extension of the inner self.

Carefully and passionately she infused beauty with quality, exclusivity and function in order to express this unique philosophy she values.

Next up was Philosophy, pioneered by Jenni Button

Designs for the modern woman on the move, Philosophy brought together versatility and interchangeable garments in its core fashion principles. Models x

Being able to move from day- to evening wear is Jenni’s innovative method of dressing today’s women in style.

Closing the evening in pure elegance was none other than Jagadi Haute Couture, established in Cape Town by international fashion designer Javaid Aslam.

Javaid has obtained extensive international experience and exposure in the fashion design world.

He displayed his latest additions to an already impressive collection.

The glamorous models were treated with a standing ovation, after a truly elegant performance.

Thereafter, prizes were up for grabs from the fantastic sponsors, with Vanessa Haywood on cue to draw the winning cards. The prizes consisted of fabulous hampers and exclusive travel packages.

A closing speech by the MC praised the sponsors and staff involved in making the event possible.

He then guided guests to the after-party which was held in the world renowned Maruna Bar, where DJ Lisa J was grooving with her slick brand of modern electro-dance beats.
