Itron 2012 Conference – Spier Hotel & Spa
Itron 2012 Conference - Spier Hotel & Spa AV Direct was proud to assist Itron in making their international conference a fantastic success! Large scale set design with projection screens were installed, these sets contain built-in LED lightboxes controlled via DMX. A center set design was equipped with a cut-out of the Itron logo, pinned onto the set to create a wonderful 3D effect. The backdrop was then projected with video mapping to provide awesome visual effects for each session of the conference. A total of 5 rooms were transformed for the conference. LCD screens, 51" Plasma screens, intelligent lighting and audio recording systems were setup. An outdoor area was setup for a little music session to break away from the conference! Dynamic Range Conference - Mount Nelson AV Direct supplied delegate conference equipment, sound, lighting and set design for this conference at the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town. State-of-the-art set design gave the conference a cosy feel, with recessed projection screens displaying the presentations. Paul Roos Matric Farewell
Possibly the most prestigious and respected high school for boys hosted their annual matric farewell and AV Direct was called in provide videography, audio visual, lighting and sound equipment.
The evening kicked off with the announcement of students upon arrival, a live camera feed was setup to view the entrances on big screen inside the hall.
MC for the evening, Alexander Lyod, then welcomed the students and announced the house rules. An opening prayer was given by Gwen Olivier, followed with a toast by Head Boy, Herman Wolff.
A spicy belly dancing session followed, with the impressive DJ Moosa on decks. The stunning show was complimented with a buffet style dinner & dessert.
Next up, Skribble & Scratch headed up the decks with some pumping dubstep and electro drum & bass beats.
This had the crowds partying way into the night!
Over 400 students took to the floor and celebrated their farewell in style. AV Direct provided wicked visuals and thumping sound for the evening.
The event was hailed as a massive success and organizer Elsabe Du Plessis had this to say after the show, “Hi Anthony, just a short note to thank you and your team for making the Paul Roos Matric Farewell a HUGE success. The awesome RAGE EXPO took place at the Coca Cola Dome last week, and it brought together thousands of gamers old and young to enjoy in the state of the art gaming technology on offer!

The release of the Nintendo 3DS earlier this year and some much-anticipated coded games made for an action-packed Nintendo stand (Stand AA) at this year’s Rage Expo, held from 30 September to 2 October at The Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate. The following coded games were played first in South Africa : on the 3DS Super Mario 3D Land, Mario Kart 7, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Resident Evil Revelations and Metal Gear Solid 3D; Wii fans have The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword and Go Vacation Wii.

Mercedes Benz’ Champions Game Show
The champions game show kicked off last month again as staff from Mercedes Benz took on the ultimate challenge.
The encounter took place at the beautiful Serengeti Hall at Birchwood Hotel, AV Direct crew setup the stunning set design and audio visual equipment. The game show based on the popular TV show Who wants to be a Millionaire, takes the contestant through the varied questions that relate to your business using the elements that create that tense and exciting atmosphere seen in the televised game show.
The game can be tailor-made to work with any client or sponsor and can incorporate all the necessary detail whether it is colour scheme, logo placement and branding.
Contestants can either win money or prizes, depending on the clients’ suggestion and the questions are pre-selected by the client to be added to the list.
The scene was set for a great evening of fun & games, with arcade games and other sporting activities around the venue to keep the staff inspired and competitive.
An awards ceremony continued as employees were warmly celebrated for their efforts throughout the year.

A Walk For Rhinos
A Walk For Rhinos
Rhino awareness month may be over, but the ongoing support and awareness for these magnificent creatures will continue for the next few years.
A strong initiative took place in Cape Town as activists and anti-poaching committee’s took to the streets to protest against the violent poaching of our beloved rhinos.
People from all walks of life gathered together outside parliament to demonstrate against the cruelty shown to these animals. Over a thousand feet marched together as one with banners high, filling the streets with colour, hope and protest.
AV Direct was proud to assist by sponsoring loudspeakers and microphones for this march. Passionate about this cause we setup outside parliament with generators, banners and equipment so that voices could be heard and feelings brought across.

Nigel Pierce, Goodhope FM presenter, played host and had the crowd in absolute elation throughout the evening.
An awards ceremony was held as staff were praised for their fantastic work throughout the season. After the awards, the Air Bands kicked off! This is something you have to see to believe!
Our stage certainly took some strain as the after-party rocked on! At least 20 people bouncing up and down to the beats that the DJ was pumping! It held firm…Just

SA Housing Foundation Conference
SOUTH AFRICAN HOUSING FOUNDATION CONFERENCE
This week, AV Direct was proud to assist the South African Housing Foundation (SAHF) in supplying all technical aspects for the 3-day Conference and Exhibition at the Southern Sun Hotel in Cape Town.
A large number of LCD Screens were placed at certain exhibition areas around the venue, clients could run their own footage using DVD players with USB capability for screening presentations.
Many of the exhibition stands captured the live feed from the main conference hall. Using Kramer TP devices to send data ia CAT5 cabling.
The main conference hall was kitted out with two large projector screens, staging and a JBL audio equipment.
State of the art SANYO projectors were used to project live feed and presentations onto the screens.
The portentous event ran for 3 days, consisted of many influential speakers, discussions and question & answer sessions.
