Brazilian Incentive Awards In Cape Town & Limpopo

Whether you had the privilege of attending a FIFA World Cup game or viewed the broadcast thereof, in the comfort of your own home, either way, we are certain that you were more than likely glued to your seat. The influx of foreign nationals to South African soil afforded various companies, such as AV Direct, the opportunity to be actively involved in the World Cup “fever”.

The most valuable outcome for our Country, was that fellow South Africans were united and tourists were impressed and enthralled by the beautiful sights of our country and friendliness of our Citizens. Individuals all around the world were amazed at how gracefully we pulled off one of the best FIFA World Cup Tournaments to date.

AV Direct has the honour of working with various international organisations during the world cup period, as mentioned in our June Newsletter. What we have ommited to mention in that edition was that we undertook a road show with an events company from Brazil, called DZ Eventos.

AV Direct met with DZ Eventos and their preferred set design supplier from Brazil, bringing together a great deal of local and international knowledge to ensure that the correct screens, projectors; intelligent lighting such as moving head spots; wash lights; chauvet LED Colour Strips and LED DMX par cans; as well as a GEM K1 haze machine, were implemented to create the right atmosphere and setting for their clients road show that turned out to be an amazing experience!

The Road Show, started off with a dinner at The Blues Restaurant on 17th June and was followed by a breakfast speech held at The Hotel Le Vendome on 20th June.

Directly after the breakfast our crew drove right through the night, 1700km’s from Cape Town to The Legend Golf & Safari Resort Hotel situated in Limpopo, to set up for their finale two day event that took place on 22nd & 23rd June. The road show was a huge success, leaving all foreign and local attendees highly impressed with our sensational service and offerings.

SOCCER FEVER is here…

On 8th June 2010 Sports for Peace hosted a Gala dinner on the occasion of the FIFA World Cup™ at Constitution Hill in JHB, South Africa, the world’s biggest single sporting event and the first ever FIFA World Cup™ to take place in Africa.

The gala dinner brought together the Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-moon, South African President Jacob Zuma, Madame Graça Machel, the Nelson Mandela Foundation, 1GOAL Ambassadors and many other dignitaries from across the globe in order to address the topic of “Achieving Universal Primary Education by 2015.”

AV DIRECT was called upon by Star Entertainment to assist with all the Audio Visual requirements for the elaborate event. Only the finest JBL equipment, strongest trussing and clearest SANYO 6500 lumen projectors was used to support an event of this nature.

Another highlight of the month was Journiey World Wide choosing AV Direct as their supplier for the Hewlett Packard “Sales and Performance Appraisal Awards” that took place in both JHB and Cape Town this year. Showing off our versatility we supplied HP not only with their Audio Visual requirements, but with LIVE entertainment, as well as event management.
All the delegates were welcomed by live drummers followed by a traditional and cultural African dance act. The respective ceremonies were great successes thanks to a great management team and technical staff from our offices.

Many people throughout South Africa were not privileged enough to get time off for the World Cup opening ceremony and games to follow. AV Direct has helped various companies fight the battle against high percentages of staff absenteeism during this period by setting up in-office satellite dishes, decoders and screens.

SAB Reality Check Campus Promo

SAB Reality Check Campus Promo

On the 19th March 2010, AV Direct supplied  a Stage and PA system to Integrity and  The Win Win Group, for part of their SAB Reality Check Campus Promotions that are currently happening on a national basis at universities throughout South Africa.

We set up an outdoor 4.8m x 2.4m Heavy Duty Stage for the 2 MC’s and contestants to appear on. The SHURE SM58 cordless mics were patched into our Pioneer DJM Mixer along with 2 Pioneer CDJ’s so that the DJ could mix his tunes before and during the show to keep excitement in the crowd of students.
Contestants were invited up to wear “blurred vision goggles” so they could test out walking along straight lines with lowed perception.  Our 15″ JBL Speakers boomed the MC’s words of responsible drinking into the crowd. Thumbs up to Jo from Integrity for making this all happen.

Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Registration

AV Direct had the privilege of supplying Circle Concepts with all of their Audio Visual requirements for the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon Registration held annually at the Good Hope Centre in Cape Town on the 31st of March to 2nd April 2010.

We supplied 2 x 32″ Sonic LCD screens with stands and a New Dell Vostro laptop which was instructed to play a presentation for the chill area so that potential clients may view advertising of special investments that Old Mutual currently has on offer.

We fitted 3 networked PC’s, LCDs and 3G internet connections close to the entrance. Promoters use these as tools to show passing guests the Two Oceans Website and help them with the registration process. Our experienced team of technicians set up a hidden Eiki 5000 lumen projector, used for projecting yet more strong advertisements onto a ceiling hung projector screen also supplied by us. This event is currently happening and we are 110% sure it will prove to be a great venture for all parties involved.

Wedding at The Westin Grand

On the 6th of February 2010, AV Direct supplied the Sound, Visuals and Lighting to a beautiful wedding of 300 guests at the Westin Grand Main Ball Room.  We supplied our client with 6 x 15” JBL Eons in the front of the room,   3 on either side of the stage to carry the newly wed’s voices from the stage couch, through our SHURE cordless mic’s and Spirt E6 Mixer with crystal clarity unto the guests.  The stage was lit up with clear Parcan lights and the draping was enhanced by Pink & Purple lights as per the theme colors of the wedding.  For those guests sitting at the back with an awkward vision – no problem for our live relay camera man, Eiki 4500 lumen video/data projector and 10’ x 7.5’ Fastfold Screen.

Mayoral Welcome Reception at Cape Town Stadium

Working side by side with our client QMR Productions on Wednesday 10th February  at the Cape Town Stadium, will certainly be rememberd by the AV Direct Team as a historic event.  We provided the Stage, Trussing, Lighting and JBL VRX Line Array PA system that impressed all 1500 guests with it’s power and clarity.

Fritz Marx, Protocol and Mayoral Events Officer of the Executive Mayor commented on 11th February 2010: “On behalf of the Executive Mayor, Alderman Dan Plato, I would like to thank you for your part in making last night’s Mayoral Welcome one of the most successful to date. The feedback has been extremely positive and congratulatory and we succeeded in our goal of showcasing the readiness of the City as well as our centrepiece the Cape Town Stadium.”

Cape Talk a division of Prime Media called upon AV Direct’s technical expertise for yet another year.  Over the last 3 years we’ve had the great privilege of supplying all the necessary Sound, LCD Screens, Quiz Masters and the Contestants Stage, which we covered in White ABS Plastic for this   on-air competition.

The Quarter Finals took place over 4 consecutive Saturday’s at the following Malls throughout the Western Cape:
* (Bayside Mall) Sat, 6th February
* (Somerset Mall)  Sat, 13th February
* (Blue Route Mall) Sat, 20th February .

The last Quarter Final will be taking place this Saturday, 27th February  @ Tygervalley Centre and will be broadcast live on Cape Talk Radio at 12:30pm.

Intelsat is the leading provider of fixed satellite services (FSS) worldwide. They supply video, data and voice connectivity in approximately 200 countries and territories for approximately 1,800 customers, many of which they have had a relationship with for more than 30 years.

Renette Wilkinson of Events Original, called upon AV Direct’s expertise for a 3rd consecutive year in providing all their technical requirements for the 2 Day Conference and Cocktail Party that took place at Mount Nelson Hotel on the 9th November and 10th November 2009.

Dirty Skirts Rocks Black River Parkway

Black River Parkway Investments hosted their Year End Bash for all their tenants on Thursday, 26th November 09 , which took place within the Main Courtyard of their North Block Building. Over 1000 invited tenants attended this exclusive event and were entertained throughout the evening by DJ SOX and a well known South African Band, DIRTY SKIRTS. The atmosphere within the courtyard was electric and guests danced the night away to top entertainment.

AV Direct was instrumental in providing and operating all the necessary Technical Equipment for this celebration and here is a list of some of the equipment we provided:

An exquisite family home in Constantia hosted a spectacular party for their daughter’s 18th Birthday, on Saturday, 17th October 09. This stylish event was organised and managed by Carrie Bester and Janene Hope Robertson of Icing Exclusive Function Management , who worked together with their chosen service providers.
They collaborated all the elements selected for this special celebration, namely:

5th Karate-Do Goju Kai World Championships 2009

South Africa Goju Kai welcomed their Goju Kai friends from across the globe at  Bellville Velodrome on Friday, 23rd through to Sunday, 25th October 09 . They shared in a once in a lifetime celebration of 100 years of the living legend of their founder Hanshi Gogen Yamaguchi and the rise of their great grandmaster, Goshi Yamaguchi.
AV Direct cc was contacted by business partners and Hombu Instructors, Sensei Frank Brandon and Sensei Craig Kansley , who were committed to the overall planning of this momentous event.
We had the great honour of being a part of this International Championship as we supplied and operated the sound:

• 8 x JBL VRX Speaker PA for Speeches & background music
• 4.8m x 4.8m x 900mm Stage
• Rear Surface Truss Screen 6m x 4.5m
• 1 x Sanyo 6500 Projector
• 9 x Foot Lights for the 12m x 12m Centre Mat

South Africa obtained the highest points and proudly walked away with 14 Gold, 26 Silver and 56 Bronze Medals, well done South Africa.

RMB Family Day 2009

The Rand Merchant Bank Family Day is an annual event, which takes place in the month of October. Elsabe du Plessis of Lemon & Lime has had the great privilege of hosting this event consecutively for the last 4 years, with AV Direct’s cc  assistance in supplying all technical requirements. This year’s event took place on Sunday, 25th October 09 at Vredenheim Wine Estate in Stellenbosch and was in a form of a family day picnic.

All types of children’s activities such as Bubble Ball, horse and pony rides, Fast and Furious Futbol, merry-go-rounds, tractor rides, jumping castles, trampolines and much more, ensured that kids of all ages had lots of fun!

RMB Family Day 2009

The Rand Merchant Bank Family Day is an annual event, which takes place in the month of October.
Elsabe du Plessis of Lemon & Lime has had the great privilege of hosting this event consecutively for the last 4 years, with AV Direct’s cc  assistance in supplying all technical requirements. This year’s event took place on Sunday, 25th October 09 at Vredenheim Wine Estate in Stellenbosch and was in a form of a family day picnic.

All types of children’s activities such as Bubble Ball, horse and pony rides, Fast and Furious Futbol, merry-go-rounds, tractor rides, jumping castles, trampolines and much more, ensured that kids of all ages had lots of fun!

Our Sale & Installation Division, which has been in operation for some years now, was recently commissioned to complete some installations at Plumstead High School and Steenberg Country Estate & Hotel.

AV Direct cc has the pleasure of supplying and currently installing the following equipment @ Plumstead High School:

• Optoma EX615 DLP Projector
• Wall Mount patch boxes with Data Input Video & Audio Cables
• Motorized Screen (3m Wide) with wired & wireless remote

All the equipment purchased for the installation will be provided to the School, with the objective of ensuring a user friendly operating system to the multiple users.

The Steenberg Country Estate & Hotel purchased the following Audio Visual Equipment from AV Direct cc for the future Installation in their Boardroom Facility:

• 1 x Optoma EX530 DLP Display Projector
• Universal Ceiling Mount Projector Bracket
• Wall Mount speakers for surround sound

World Maritime Day 2009

The Department of Transport of the Republic of South Africa hosted a celebration for World Maritime Day at  Lagoon Beach Hotel Cape on Friday, 25th September 09 .  The highlight of the event was on shipping, an important part of the Transport segment in South Africa.  Eventscape contracted the services of AV Direct cc to supply all the Audio Visual equipment along with all the camera equipment for both parts of the day’s activities.

World Maritme Day was full of activity with a Conference in the morning and a spectacular Gala Dinner in the evening.  AV Direct cc provided the Camera work and filming to the Conference, with a Sony HDR HD Video Camera.  The conference was held as an educational for School Children who wish to pusue a career in the Maritime Transport Industry.

Government officials, dignitaries and invited guests attended the Gala Dinner that was hosted in the Brasserie Function Room.  Guests were in for a special treat as the Jaziel Brothers provided all the live entertainment for the dinner.  The Jaziel Brothers were very popular with all who attended, as they created a party atmosphere that kept the majority of the guests on the dance floor throughout the evening.

All equipment supplied was operated by AV Direct’s Technical Sound & AV Engineers.
